This privacy policy explains how SaltaVidas collects, uses, and protects information when you use our game at saltavidas.com.

Information We Collect

SaltaVidas is a browser-based game. We collect the following information:

Guest play: Your game progress is stored in a browser cookie (sv_guest) and saved on our servers linked to that anonymous guest ID. No personal information is required to play as a guest.
Registered accounts: If you create an account, we store your chosen username, a hashed password, and your game save data on our servers. We do not collect your real name, address, or payment information.
Contact form: If you use our contact form, we store your name, email address, and message so we can respond to you.

Proposed chat safety disclosure — pending release

This section describes an upcoming feature, not active monitoring before its announced launch. Before activation, players will receive the applicable policy notice and accept updated chat rules.

New Global, City, Founder, private-group, direct and casino messages may be checked for requests for real-world private information. A contextual reviewer may consider the message language and up to five earlier messages from the same conversation. Authorized moderators can inspect relevant context; access and decisions are logged. Fictional character discussion is welcome. Automated reminders may be wrong and can be reviewed from Settings → About → Safety reminders & review. They do not restrict accounts or create strikes.

The review queue keeps pointers to stored conversations rather than another complete message archive. Casino messages otherwise held in memory may have a bounded review copy. Review copies and case evidence expire after 30 days by default; minimal case and action records after 90 days. Expiry is applied on startup and review operations. Ordinary source-chat, account-notice and general administrative audit retention is unchanged. Operational retention settings may be changed only with the corresponding disclosure updated.

No message content is sent to an external classifier by this feature itself. Any scheduled review service must be configured and disclosed before activation. Review access is restricted; a System notice is not a player account or an invitation to a conversation.

Cookies and Local Storage

No cookie is set before you choose. On your first visit you will see a cookie banner before anything else. The game sets zero cookies — first-party or third-party — until you pick Accept all, Essential only, or your own mix. Your choice is remembered on your device (and in a strictly-necessary sv_consent cookie that records the choice itself). You can change your mind at any time:

In the game: use the Cookies link in the footer to reopen Cookie Settings and allow or withdraw categories. Withdrawing advertising cookies stops rewarded ads (you can no longer earn Life Credits from ads; login-streak and gameplay earning still work). Withdrawing analytics changes nothing visible.
Clear everything: signing out and clearing this site's cookies in your browser removes your sign-in. Note that a guest life is tied to its guest cookie — clearing cookies before registering an account loses that guest life permanently.

What each cookie does:

sv_consent — remembers your cookie choice (strictly necessary, 1 year).
sv_guest — anonymous guest ID linking your guest save (strictly necessary, 1 year). Only created after your choice.
sv_session — keeps a registered account signed in (strictly necessary, session-length). Only created when you register or log in.
sv_trust — remembers a device you explicitly marked trusted for faster login (strictly necessary, only if you opt in).
sv_oauth_state / sv_oauth_provider (+sv_oauth_ref) — short-lived login-flow protection, deleted minutes after use.
Google Analytics and Google AdSense cookies (third parties, only if you allow those categories — see below).

We also use browser local storage for game preferences and for remembering your cookie choice itself. You can control cookies through your browser settings; disabling cookies may affect game functionality.

Third-Party Advertising (Google AdSense)

We use Google AdSense to display advertisements on this site. Google and its partners use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this site and other sites on the internet. Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to our site and/or other sites on the internet.

You may opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings. You may also opt out of third-party vendor use of cookies for personalized advertising by visiting www.aboutads.info.

Google Analytics

We use Google Analytics to collect anonymous usage statistics such as pages visited and session duration. This helps us understand how the game is used and improve the experience. Google Analytics uses cookies. See Google's Privacy Policy for details.

Data Security

We take reasonable precautions to protect stored data. Passwords are hashed and never stored in plain text. Game saves are stored on servers located in the United States. No method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure.

Children's Privacy

SaltaVidas is a general audience game. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated effective date.
